SCED speaks on Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2014
**********************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, on the Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2014 at a media session in the Legislative Council Complex today (December 17):

Reporter: (ˇKspreading fear about this amendmentˇK)

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: Thank you. I think this is a very very good question. I don't know why some lawmakers continue to make misinformation about what the existing law is, and what this amendment bill aims to achieve. I think the best way is for people to have rational and a very educated, I would say, discussion and debate on this bill. And don't base on your personal feelings, (but) base on facts, what does the existing law say, and what does the amendment bill try to achieve. And I think on that level, then you could have a rational and objective discussion and debate. Spreading misinformation about the existing law and the (amendment) bill doesn't help the situation.
