Computer ballot completed for remaining new niches allocation at Wo Hop Shek Kiu Tau Road Columbarium Phase V
**********************************************************

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) drew the selection priority of 11 413 eligible applicants in a computer ballot today (December 17) for the allocation of remaining new niches at Wo Hop Shek Kiu Tau Road Columbarium Phase V. Applicants will be invited in batches from January 6, 2016, to select niches according to their selection priority determined by the computer ballot.

An FEHD spokesman said that about 43 700 new niches at Wo Hop Shek Kiu Tau Road Columbarium Phase V were open for allocation in three phases since September 2012. The third-phase allocation was completed in end-August this year. A total of 5 069 new standard niches (including 1 184 outdoor and 3 885 incense-free niches), which remained unallocated after three phases of allocation, were open for allocation again in early October.

During the one-month application period ending on November 5, 11 413 eligible applications were received after verification. The department held an open computer ballot today with the whole process videotaped.

As from today, the ballot results will be displayed at the FEHD's Hong Kong Cemeteries and Crematoria (C&C) Office and Kowloon C&C Office, and uploaded to the department's webpage (www.fehd.gov.hk) for public inspection. Notification will also be sent to applicants by SMS or email if they provided their mobile phone numbers or email addresses in their application forms.

Applicants can also make use of the Interactive Voice Response System at 2304 8906 and follow the instructions to check the ballot results starting from 3pm today.

The spokesman said that starting from January 6, 2016, invitation letters would be sent to applicants according to the selection priority to request them to complete the selection procedure at the designated date and time at the FEHD's Kowloon C&C Office. The whole allocation exercise is expected to be completed in mid-May 2016.
