Nineteen building plans approved in October

     The Buildings Department approved 19 building plans in October, with five on Hong Kong Island, one in Kowloon and 13 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, three were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, 12 were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments and two were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 13 building projects that, when completed, will provide 23 068 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 470 units, and 256 962 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 10 building projects.

     The department also issued 13 occupation permits, with three on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 84 443 sq m, involving 1 121 units, and 37 463 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in October totalled about $3.4 billion.

     In addition, eight demolition consents involving eight building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 033 reports about unauthorised building works in October, and issued 1 124 removal orders on unauthorised works.
