The Legislative Council (LegCo) Subcommittee on Matters Relating to Railways conducted a visit today (December 13) to the construction site of the West Kowloon Terminus (WKT) of the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) to better understand the works progress.
Accompanied by the Chairman-Designate, Professor Frederick Ma, and the Chief Executive Officer of the MTR Corporation Limited, Mr Lincoln Leong, members of the Subcommittee first visited the Express Rail Link Visitor Centre at Austin Station of the West Rail Line to obtain more information on the design of the works.
Members then visited the construction site of the WKT of the Hong Kong Section of XRL to observe the facilities on the platform level. They were also briefed by the representatives of the MTR Corporation Limited on the structural works of the Station Entrance Building at WKT as well as the latest progress of the works.
The Subcommittee will hold a special meeting tomorrow (December 14) at 10.45am in Conference Room 1 of the LegCo Complex to discuss the Hong Kong Section of XRL. The visit assisted members of the Subcommittee to gain a better understanding of the latest position of the works. Members participating in the visit included the chairman of the Subcommittee, Mr Chan Han-pan; the deputy chairman of the Subcommittee, Mr Wong Kwok-hing; and Subcommittee members, Ms Claudia Mo, Mr Michael Tien, Mr Tang Ka-piu, Dr Lo Wai-kwok and Mr Christopher Chung, as well as, non-Subcommittee members, Mr Tam Yiu-chung, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr Kwok Wai-keung and Dr Helena Wong.
