HKSAR Government welcomes new agreement reached by COP21
********************************************************

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today (December 13) welcomed the new agreement on global actions responding to climate change reached by the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21) on December 12 (Paris time).

"Hong Kong has been adopting a multi-pronged approach to reduce our carbon emissions, and is committed to reducing carbon intensity by 50 to 60 per cent by 2020 when compared with the 2005 level," a Government spokesman said.

"Hong Kong has been actively taking mitigation and adaptation measures to address climate change. The Hong Kong Climate Change Report 2015 published earlier by the Environment Bureau consolidates the efforts of the relevant government departments. We will continue to review and enhance our policies and actions on carbon reduction, and will consider formulating our carbon reduction targets beyond 2020 in the light of latest developments."
