The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, met the visiting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr Karim Massimov, at Government House this afternoon (December 12) to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

Mr Leung welcomed the visit by Mr Massimov. He said that Hong Kong enjoyed the dual advantages of "one country" and "two systems" and that Kazakhstan, located at the heart of Eurasia, has an important role to play under the "Belt and Road" initiative. He said he hoped that the two places would strengthen exchanges and co-operation on all fronts to enhance bilateral ties and capitalise on the wealth of opportunities emerging from the "Belt and Road" initiative.

Mr Leung also encouraged more companies from Kazakhstan to set up business and invest in Hong Kong and make use of Hong Kong's advantages to reach the vast market in the Mainland of China.
