Local arts group to examine meaning of photography in "Shooting Soul" (with photos)
******************************************************

Local arts group Ho Bit Goon will examine the meaning of photography in the multi-arts theatre "Shooting Soul" in January next year.

Ho Ying-fung is the founder of Ho Bit Goon and producer and playwright of "Shooting Soul". The director and lighting designer is Bert Wong. The cast includes Ng Wai-shek, Yip Wing-wong, Kenneth Sze, Hugh Cho and Chan Mei-tung.

"Shooting Soul" is a visual poetic drama that seeks to explore the hearts and souls of war photojournalists and the cruel world they witness. It is an extension of the monodrama "The Shadow Warrior" written by Ho Ying-fung and based on a theme by the young director Bert Wong.

With photos flooding our world today, can photography serve as a witness of our existence? What are we witnessing at the moment that we press the shutter? "Shooting Soul" uses various art channels and borrows the unique visions and thoughts of photojournalists working in war zones to consider and evaluate our ability to perceive - an ability which has been lost in the 21st century as the Internet takes control of our lives.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Shooting Soul" (in Cantonese) will be staged at the Cattle Depot Theatre at 8pm on January 22 to 24 and January 26 to 31, and at 3pm on January 23 and 24 and January 30 and 31. Tickets priced at $220 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). For telephone credit card bookings, please call 2111 5999.
