The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, today (December 9) conducted the second day of his visit to Beijing. Joining Mr Tsang on the visit are the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, and the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Mr Norman Chan.
Mr Tsang started the day by meeting with the Vice Minister of Commerce, Mr Wang Shouwen. They discussed a number of issues of mutual concern and agreed to strengthen promotion of the liberalisation measures introduced in the Agreement on Trade in Services under the framework of the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement.
Mr Tsang then met with the Chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, Mr Shang Fulin. They exchanged views on the latest developments of the banking industries of the two places. Mr Tsang expressed his appreciation to the Central Authorities for their support to Hong Kong in developing offshore Renminbi business.
