Public doctors apply for Limited Registration
*********************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) today (December 7) submitted to the Medical Council of Hong Kong (MCHK) the applications of nine non-local doctors for Limited Registration to serve in public hospitals. Among the nine applications, four are new applications while the other five are for renewal.

"In the light of doctor manpower shortage and workload issues in various clinical units, the recruitment of non-local doctors has been supported by the respective Central Co-ordinating Committees and endorsed by the HA Task Force on Limited Registration Scheme," the HA spokesman said.

The four new applications for Limited Registration submitted to the MCHK today comprised one in Anaesthesia, two in Family Medicine and one in Intensive Care Unit. Regarding the renewal applications for five non-local doctors (three in Anaesthesia, one in Family Medicine and one in Internal Medicine), their one-year Limited Registration will expire in the first quarter of 2016.

Currently, there are 10 non-local doctors working as Service Resident under Limited Registration in the HA in the specialties of Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine and Internal Medicine to help relieve the manpower pressure in the units.
