Labour Department holds media session on YETP stage drama "Seize the Second"
**********************************************************

The Labour Department held a media session on the stage drama "Seize the Second" today (December 7). Jointly produced by the Youth Employment and Training Programme (YETP) and Radio 2 of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), the stage drama is an adaptation of the encouraging stories of four YETP trainees. Performers will include artistes and singers, RTHK DJs, YETP trainees and RTHK Solar Ambassadors. It has been scheduled for performance at Kwai Tsing Theatre on January 30, 2016.

The media session was officiated by the Commissioner for Labour, Mr Donald Tong. Also attending the event were the Head of Radio 2 of RTHK, Mr David Ho, and singer Crystal Cheung.

Speaking at the session, Mr Tong encouraged young people to grasp every opportunity to achieve their goals. "YETP assists youngsters in developing their potential and fulfilling their career goals. We have all along been seeking to provide comprehensive employment support services with the concerted efforts of the private sector, service providers and the Government," he said.

Mr Tong expressed the belief that the four encouraging stories would serve as good examples in inspiring young people to achieve their dreams. He said he expects that more youngsters would benefit from YETP's tailor-made services in formulating their career plans, thereby enhancing their employability.

The four young people featured in the stage drama also attended the event to discuss their experiences. They were Ms Silky Tang, an Aircraft Maintenance Approved Technician in an aircraft engineering company; Mr Billy Ho, co-founder of a private music school; Mr Johnny Choi, a Sports Officer in a prestigious clubhouse; and Mr Stephen To, centre-in-charge of a social welfare organisation. They all succeeded in identifying a direction for their careers through the on-the-job training of YETP. With encouragement and guidance from their employers and service providers, as well as their perseverance to overcome challenges at work, they were able to fly high for a bright future.

Enrolment in YETP is free and accepted year-round.  School leavers aged 15 to 24 with educational attainment at sub-degree level or below are welcome to join. The department has also set up a Youth Employment Services hotline, 2112 9932, to provide a one-stop enquiry service on the programme and receive training vacancies from employers.
