Government launches Pay e-Cheque portal
***************************************

The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) launched the Pay e-Cheque portal today (December 7) for payments of government bills and fees with e-Cheques. The public can pay government bills by entering online bill information and uploading e-Cheques at www.payecheque.gov.hk.

A spokesman for the OGCIO said, "The Government has been striving to develop electronic government services. The Pay e-Cheque portal allows the public to make payments of government bills using e-Cheques anytime and anywhere. Each e-Cheque can be used to settle a maximum of 10 government bills from the same department and of the same bill type."

The government bills and fees which can be settled at the Pay e-Cheque portal currently include general demand notes, tax demand notes, business registration fees, Tax Reserve Certificates, and stamp duties. Payments via this portal will be extended to more government bills in future.
