Violinist Jue Yao to perform with pianist Nancy Loo in January

     Internationally acclaimed violinist Jue Yao will collaborate with local renowned pianist Nancy Loo in a duo recital in January, featuring Brahms' "Violin Sonata No. 1 in G, Op. 78", Babadjanian's "Violin Sonata in B-flat Minor" and Richard Strauss' "Violin Sonata in E-flat, Op. 18".

     Born in Shanghai, Jue Yao was awarded a full scholarship by the San Francisco Conservatory of Music to continue her violin studies with Zaven Melikian. She later graduated from the Juilliard School, where she studied under Dorothy DeLay.

     One of Hong Kong's most versatile artists, Nancy Loo attended the Juilliard School on a scholarship and studied there with Adele Marcus. After graduating with a master's degree, she studied with Vlado Perlemuter in Paris and Guido Agosti in Italy. She was the first-prize winner at the fourth Rina Sala Gallo International Piano Competition in Monza in 1976.

     "Violin and Piano Duo Recital by Jue Yao and Nancy Loo" is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will be staged at 8pm on January 12 (Tuesday) at the Concert Hall of Hong Kong City Hall. Tickets priced at $120, $200 and $300 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk).
