Arson case in Tin Shui Wai reclassified as attempted murder

    Police reclassified an arson case in Tin Shui Wai today (November 27) as attempted murder.

    At about 2.25am, Police received a report from a 22-year-old woman that her father set fire inside a unit in Heng Kin House, Tin Heng Estate.

    Police officers sped to the scene. The 22-year-old woman and her 49-year-old mother sustained injuries to their limbs, while the 58-year-old father sustained injuries to his neck and limbs. They were rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital for medical treatment in conscious state.

    Initial investigations revealed that the 58-year-old man set fire to some articles in an attempt to hurt his wife and daughter. He was arrested for attempted murder and is being detained for further enquiries.

    Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Yuen Long District are underway.
