Theatre Ronin adapts lyrics for stage in "Once Upon A Time"
***********************************************************

Theatre Ronin is adapting the lyrics of popular music for its new theatre work "Once Upon A Time", to be performed in January next year.

Theatre Ronin has selected popular songs from a music album from 1984 and is adapting them for the stage. Through bringing oldies back to life in a different form, the company aims to recreate memories of love that may have been forgotten by some but are still vivid and fresh for many.

The production team includes Tam Hung-man as artistic director and production designer; Wong Man-ho as playwright and director; Professor Chu Yiu-wai as lyric consultant; and Johnny Tan, Wing Moa, Anson Chan and Ma Sze-nga as performers.

Theatre Ronin was founded in 2006 and has focused on the concept of a theatre of imagery. In recent years, the group has created Hong Kong-focused productions and adapted local literary works for the stage.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Once Upon A Time" (in Cantonese) will be staged at 8pm on January 22 and 23 (Friday and Saturday) and at 3pm on January 23 and 24 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Multi-media Theatre of the HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity. Post-performance talks (in Cantonese) will be held after the evening performance on January 22 and the matinee performance on January 23. Tickets priced at $120 and $180 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). For telephone credit card bookings, please call 2111 5999.
