The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong (GDETO) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is holding the "Hong Kong Exhibition" in Heyuan, Guangdong, from today (November 26) to December 2. Members of the public are welcome to visit the exhibition at JJ Shopping Mall in Heyuan free of charge.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition today, the Director of the GDETO, Mr Albert Tang, said, "Within Guangdong, Heyuan is relatively far from Hong Kong. Therefore, we are bringing Hong Kong to Heyuan this time, using 3D exhibits, promotional videos and extensive photos to showcase Hong Kong's exciting city landscape and its vibrancy as an international metropolis to local residents. The exhibition also gives them a comprehensive understanding of Hong Kong's latest developments on various fronts, including the economy, trade and business, education, culture, environmental protection and tourism, as well as the participation of Hong Kong organisations in charitable activities in the Mainland, so as to foster mutual understanding between the people of the two cities."
He said, "The exhibition also showcases the contributions of Hong Kong enterprises to the economy and society of Heyuan, demonstrating the benefits of the win-win co-operation between the two sides."
Mr Tang added, "With the successful implementation of 'one country, two systems' and the Basic Law, and with the Mainland as our hinterland, Hong Kong continues to enhance its status as an international financial, trade, shipping and tourism centre.
"As Asia's world city, Hong Kong is well known for its business-friendly environment, free flow of capital, free trade and free market economy and diversified talent pool, accompanied by world-class infrastructure, a sound and independent legal system and a low-tax regime. With the above advantages, Hong Kong is a popular choice as the regional base for the international business community to manage business in the Asia-Pacific region. It also serves as an ideal platform for Mainland companies to tap into overseas markets and 'go global'. Enterprises in Heyuan are encouraged to set up offices and raise capital in Hong Kong. In doing so, they can learn from the experience of the world's leading corporations in Hong Kong and further expand their business internationally."
This year, to tie in with the implementation of the liberalisation of trade in services between Guangdong and Hong Kong and the 'One Belt, One Road' strategy of the Central Government, the exhibition is also showcasing Hong Kong's role to complement the national 'One Belt, One Road' strategy and Hong Kong's strengths in financial services, professional services, commerce and trade, the maritime sector and tourism.
The "Hong Kong Exhibition" is organised by the GDETO with the support of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Bureau and the Bureau of Commerce of the Heyuan Municipal People's Government.
Other guests attending the opening ceremony included the Vice-Mayor General of the Heyuan Municipal People's Government, Mr Gong Guoping; the Vice Mayor of the Heyuan Municipal People's Government, Ms Zhu Weiwei; officials of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Bureau and the Bureau of Commerce of the Heyuan Municipal People's Government; and representatives of Hong Kong enterprises in Heyuan.
