************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation:

The Committee on Home-School Co-operation (CHSC) today (November 21) held the "Clean Campus ¡P Best Partners Kick-off Ceremony" to initiate a series of cleanliness activities in schools.

Officiating at the ceremony, the Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, called on parents and schools to join together and shoulder the responsibility of keeping Hong Kong clean.

Noting that the Education Bureau encourages schools to conduct school-based cleansing operations, he said he hopes that the parent-teacher associations (PTAs) could give full support to the cleanliness activities organised by schools.

Mr Ng also said he hopes that parents and schools could become students' best partners by co-operating in attending to their learning and growth.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the CHSC, Mr Henry Tong, appealed to the executive committee members of PTAs to maintain a good partnership with CSHC in promoting home-school activities.

Jointly organised by the CHSC and 18 Federations of PTAs, a series of "Clean Campus ¡P Best Partners" activities will be held in the 2015/16 school year in support of the Government's "Keep Clean 2015@Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign. The activities also aim at encouraging PTAs and parents to become best partners of schools by actively giving support and participating in school-based cleanliness activities.
