A 76-year-old man died in a No. 1 alarm fire in Hip Wo House, 143-167 Hip Wo Street, Kwun Tong, today (November 19).
The fire broke out at a domestic unit on the 11th floor of Hip Wo House at 8.46am today. Firemen used one jet and mobilised one breathing apparatus team to fight the blaze. The fire was largely put out at 9.09am. About 10 persons self-evacuated to place of safety.
An unconscious man sustaining burns was rescued by firemen from the affected unit. He was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and was certified dead at 12.58pm.
Concerning the cause of fire, initial investigations revealed that no suspicious circumstances were noted.
