The Civil Aid Service (CAS) held a mountain rescue skills demonstration at Ma On Shan Country Park, New Territories today (November 19). The demonstration included cliff rescue, stretcher lifting from a gully and winching of a casualty by Government Flying Service helicopter.
The demonstration was part of the two-week biennial standards check for the CAS Mountain Search and Rescue (MSaR) Company.
Three experts from the United Kingdom's Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue Service, Squadron Leader Simon Moore, Flight Sergeant Lee Wales and Corporal Alister Beer conducted the standards check, which aimed to assess the techniques of members of the MSaR Company, the use of MSaR equipment as well as operational proficiency and efficiency to ensure its high standards of service.
