The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, under the authority delegated by the Chief Executive, has appointed Mr Lester Garson Huang and re-appointed Ms Mary Ma Xuezheng as non-executive directors of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). The appointment and re-appointment will take effect from November 15, 2015 for a term of two years.
Mr Huang is a partner of PC Woo & Co. Ms Ma is the Chairman of Boyu Capital.
Announcing the appointments today (November 12), a Government spokesman said, "Mr Huang has a wealth of experience and expertise in the legal sector. We believe that he will provide invaluable contribution to the work of the SFC. Ms Ma has provided valuable advice and guidance to the SFC during her tenure. We look forward to her continued support for the work of the SFC."
The spokesman added, "We would also like to thank the outgoing non-executive director Mr Lawrence Lee Kam-hung for his active and invaluable contribution to the work of the SFC during his service as a non-executive director of the SFC over the past six years. We look forward to his continued support to the further development of the financial services sector in Hong Kong."
The SFC is chaired by Mr Carlson Tong. Other serving non-executive directors are Mr Albert Au Siu-cheung, Professor Leonard Cheng Kwok-hon, Ms Teresa Ko Yuk-yin, Dr William Wong Ming-fung and Dr Kelvin Wong Tin-yau.
