Tuen Mun Tin Hau Temple Fair to be held at Tuen Mun Tin Hau Temple Plaza this Sunday (with photos)

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will hold the community thematic carnival "Tuen Mun Tin Hau Temple Fair" this Sunday (November 15) from 2.30pm to 5.30pm at Tuen Mun Tin Hau Temple Plaza. Admission is free.

     Featuring a variety of entertainment the carnival promises fun-filled performances, tours and activities. Carnival-goers can enjoy excerpts from classic Cantonese operatic performances such as the stories of Pan Jinlian and Lin Chong, Hakka kung fu demonstrations including the praying mantis, dragon-style and Hakka hung kuen, as well as storytelling, riddles, and Chinese couplets by senior radio presenter Wong Yan-keung. Other line-ups include lion dancing, Chinese music and dance, acrobatics and puppetry.

     Guided tours to the Tin Hau Temple and Fa Pau Exhibition Hall by cultural guide So Man-hing of the Conservancy Association Centre for Heritage will also be held. During the tours, So will introduce the legend and history of the Tin Hau Temple, the temple's traditional Chinese style architecture and decorations, and the traditional custom of the fa pau game in New Territories villages.

     Members of the public can also enjoy game booths and demonstrations of items from the local Intangible Cultural Heritage including Hong Kong-style milk tea, blown sugar figurines, traditional dough figurines, paper-cutting and Hakka cha kwo.

     A free shuttle bus service to Tuen Mun Tin Hau Temple will be provided from 1.20pm to 5pm at Tuen Mun Station Public Transport Interchange and Tuen Mun Town Centre. For details, please call 2591 1340 or visit the website:
