Special traffic and transport arrangements in Hung Hom and Tsim Sha Tsui this Sunday

     The Transport Department (TD) today (November 5) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Hung Hom and Tsim Sha Tsui from about 2am to noon this Sunday (November 8) to facilitate the holding of an event.

     The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

Road closures
-------------

     Road sections or traffic lanes on the following roads will be temporarily closed to all traffic from about 2am:

(i) Both sides of the section of the Hung Hom Bypass between Hung Hom Road and Salisbury Road;

(ii) The section of Princess Margaret Road Link southbound between Metropolis Drive and the Hung Hom Bypass;

(iii) The section of Salisbury Road westbound between Chatham Road South and Cheong Wan Road;

(iv) Both sides of Salisbury Road Underpass;

(v) The section of Salisbury Road southbound between Cross Harbour Tunnel Administration Building and Science Museum Road;

(vi) The section of the fast lane of Salisbury Road eastbound between Chatham Road South and Science Museum Road;

(vii) The section of the third and fourth lanes of Salisbury Road eastbound between Nathan Road and Middle Road; and

(viii) The section of the fourth lane of Salisbury Road westbound between Nathan Road and Middle Road.

Traffic diversions
------------------

(i) Vehicles on Hung Hom Road southbound heading for Tsim Sha Tsui will be diverted via Hung Hom Bypass, the unnamed slip road, Cheong Wan Road, Chatham Road South southbound and Salisbury Road westbound;

(ii) Vehicles on Salisbury Road westbound near Hung Hom Station heading for Tsim Sha Tsui will be diverted via the unnamed slip road outside the International Mail Centre, Science Museum Road northbound, Mody Road westbound, Chatham Road South southbound and Salisbury Road westbound;

(iii) Vehicles on Salisbury Road eastbound near Nathan Road heading for Hung Hom will be diverted via Chatham Road South northbound, Cheong Wan Road eastbound, On Wan Road northbound, Cheong Wan Road eastbound, Metropolis Drive, roundabout, Metropolis Drive, Cheong Tung Road South northbound, Hung Lai Road and Hung Hom South Road northbound;

(iv) Vehicles on Salisbury Road eastbound near New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel heading for Hung Hom will be diverted via Hong Chong Road northbound, U-turn slip road, Hong Chong Road southbound, the unnamed slip road, On Wan Road northbound, Cheong Wan Road eastbound, Metropolis Drive, roundabout, Metropolis Drive, Cheong Tung Road South northbound, Hung Lai Road and Hung Hom South Road northbound;

(V) Vehicles on Metropolis Drive eastbound will be diverted to turn left onto Princess Margaret Road Link northbound;

(vi) Vehicles on Princess Margaret Road Link southbound will be diverted to turn right onto Metropolis Drive westbound; and

(vii) Vehicles on Salisbury Road eastbound near Science Museum Road will be prohibited from turning right onto the U-turn Slip Road to Salisbury Road westbound.

Public transport services
-------------------------

     A total of 11 bus routes and one green minibus route operating in the affected areas will be temporarily diverted. The public transport operators concerned will arrange publicity to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements.

     The TD anticipates that the traffic in Tsim Sha Tsui would be affected on that day. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected road sections. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport services as far as possible.

     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
