US-based designer and manufacturer of turnkey automated assembly and test systems, Lanco Integrated announced today (November 4) the expansion of its regional headquarters in Hong Kong as part of its global strategy to provide better services to multinationals.

Lanco Integrated established its regional base in Hong Kong in 2009, bringing the heritage and the advanced technology of the company to Asia. The current expansion on the back of the fast-growing capacity of Lanco Integrated Asia's operations has seen the company's regional headquarters relocated to a bigger 1,400-square-metre facility in Fo Tan with reinforced technical team.

The Managing Director of Lanco Integrated Asia, Mr Brutus Lo, said, "We have been enjoying the business advantages in Hong Kong which has contributed to our success. Apart from a supply of stable workforce, Hong Kong has a robust legal framework with premium protection of intellectual property and a business environment with free flow of information. As Hong Kong is also a free port, we are able to conveniently import components from international suppliers who may or may not have support in Asia."

He added, "By leveraging the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), we can ship our proprietary Lanco Transport and custom turnkey systems to the Mainland of China at zero-duties, aiding both local Chinese and multinational customers in their automation efforts. Lanco Transport has also become the platform of choice for many automated electrical meter testing systems in many regional state power grids including those of Zhejiang, Guizhou, Inner Mongolia, Gansu and Xinjiang."

Earlier this year, Lanco Integrated developed a unique business partnership with Cathay Pacific Catering Services (HK) Limited in which it has successfully designed and manufactured one of the first highly automated tray setting systems now in operation at Cathay's Chek Lap Kok plant.

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Dr Jimmy Chiang said, "We have been offering various support to Lanco Integrated Asia since 2010, from advice on work visas to CEPA applications, R&D funding processes, marketing and publicity. We are very happy to see it use Hong Kong as a platform of its global expansion."
