Hong Kong Underwater Photo and Video Competition 2015 concludes successfully (with photos)
******************************************************

The Hong Kong Underwater Photo and Video Competition 2015 has concluded successfully with an award presentation held today (October 31).

A spokesman for the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said, "The Hong Kong Underwater Photo and Video Competition jointly organised by the AFCD and the Hong Kong Underwater Association has gained much support from underwater photographers since its launch in 2012. In its fourth year, the competition received a total of 438 entries, which are of high quality in general.

"These photos and videos recorded the beauty of marine life and habitats in Hong Kong waters. The entries over the years form a valuable databank that would help the public learn more about our marine environment and is conducive to enhancing awareness of conservation."

The event comprised a photo competition and a video competition. There were two categories in the photo competition, namely the Macro and Close-up Category and the Standard and Wide Angle Category. All entries had to feature marine ecology, habitats or marine life in Hong Kong waters and must have been taken during the period from September 15, 2014, to September 13, 2015.

In addition to prizes for champions and runners-up and merit awards in each group, there were special prizes presented by the judging panel to entries that promote the message of marine conservation.

The list of the winners and their winning entries can be viewed at the AFCD's website: www.afcd.gov.hk/english/conservation/con_mar/con_mar_cor/photo_com_2015.html
