Andy Wong to host lecture series on modern dance and contemporary dance

     Renowned local dance artist and choreographer Andy Wong will host the Lecture Series on Modern Dance and Contemporary Dance, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, from December to February.

     Wong will introduce the origins and development of modern dance and contemporary dance, as well as present their fascinating elements through bringing up distinctive features of both Eastern and Western dance companies. Participants will have the chance to engage in a series of interactive activities involving body movement and improvised dancing.

     Wong majored in ballet and is one of the most active and distinguished dance artists and choreographers in Hong Kong. He has received numerous awards and accolades including Dance Awards presented by the Hong Kong Dance Alliance, "One of the Most Distinguished and Elite Dancers of the Era", a Persons with Outstanding Contributions to the Development of Arts and Culture award from the Home Affairs Bureau and an Award for Art Achievement from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Wong has performed as well as choreographed movements and dance for numerous professional theatrical productions. He is now the artistic director of DancingAngels, Youth Dance of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and Dancing Heart Troupe, as well as an arts consultant of St James' Settlement.

     All lectures will be conducted in Cantonese. Tickets priced at $50 for each lecture (free seating) are now available at URBTIX. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 and above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients.
