The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, accompanied by the Director of Highways, Mr Lau Ka-keung, visited the construction site of the Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Link under the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge-related Hong Kong projects this afternoon (October 28). Following is the transcript of remarks at the media session:

Reporter: (Inaudible.)

Chief Executive: Sorry, can't hear you. You need to shout, I'm afraid.

Reporter: How much of the tunnel is completed, and when the Southern Connection will be completed as well?

Director of Highways: Sorry, I can't hear. Can you repeat that?

Chief Executive: How much has been completed and when can we expect it to be completed?

Director of Highways: For this tunnel, you mean?

Reporter: Yes, and also the south one.

Director of Highways: We are digging the tunnel from north to the south and the excavation has proceeded about 500 metres from this point here. Sooner or later, in our introduction here, we will reach the second vent shaft.  At the vent shaft, the contractor will change the cutter head from this 17.6-metre to 14-metre cutter head, and then they will continue to drive under the sea to the other side. Thank you.
