The orchestra recently visited Russia and participated in the International Music Festival Eurasia in Yekaterinburg, where its performances won wide acclaim. In this concert, the orchestra will perform pieces from its Russian tour for Hong Kong audiences. Highlights include "Overture for Orchestra" originally commissioned by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra; "Fire Torch Festival" from "Yunnan Tone Poem", which is inspired by the ethnic Yunnan people celebrating their traditional festival; "The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto", taken from an ancient Chinese love story; Tchaikovsky's classic repertoire "Symphony No. 5 in E Minor" and more.

The conductors comprise Ng Ka-ming, Pak Wing-heng and Dr Joseph Kam, while Executive Council Member of Guangdong Violin Education Society, Lu Xi, will be the violin soloist.

Since its establishment in 1978, the HKYSO's membership has grown to 120, with ages ranging from 12 to 25. Over the years, it has groomed many eminent local performers and music educators. The HKYSO has also played the role of music ambassador for Hong Kong and has participated in concert tours to France, Israel, Cyprus, the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, Singapore and the Mainland.
