Four generations of Cantonese opera actors to perform in December

     The veteran Cantonese opera stars Yuen Siu-fai, Chan Ho-kau and Yau Sing-po will collaborate with other Cantonese opera actors and talented young blood in an upcoming production that showcases excerpts from well-known Cantonese operas and formulaic paichang plays in ancient vocal style.

     Entitled "Four Generations on the Same Stage - Performance of Cantonese Opera Excerpts", details of the performances are as follows:

December 1 (Tuesday) 7.30pm
Auditorium, Kwai Tsing Theatre
Programme: "The Killing of Yan Poxi" from "Song Jiang Slays His Mistress Yan Poxi"; "Farewell, my wife" and "Daughter-in-law coerced" from "Why Haven't Thou Returned"; "Reconciliation" from "The Ruthless Sword and the Two Lovers"; "Killing the son" from "The Tragedy of Two Patriotic Brothers" and the paichang play "Beating Hands".
 
December 2 (Wednesday) 7.30pm
Auditorium, Kwai Tsing Theatre
Programme: "Free the son" from "The Lotus Lantern"; "Farewell, my wife" and "Daughter-in-law coerced" from "Why Haven't Thou Returned"; "Negotiating with the Emperor" and "The Fragrant Death" from "Princess Changping"; "Killing the son" from "The Tragedy of Two Patriotic Brothers" and the paichang play "A Lesson from the Mother".

     Apart from the veteran trio, the cast also includes Yam Bing-yee (first performance only), Liu Kwok-sum, Tang Mi-ling, Chan Wing-yee, Miu Dan-ching, Wan Yuk-yu, Chui Yuet-ming, Kwok Chun-sing, Lo Lai-see, Liang Zhaoming, Song Hongbo, Cheng Man-yee, Szeto Chui-ying, Jim Ho-fung, Ng Lap-hei and Yuen Huk-wai.

     "Four Generations on the Same Stage - Performance of Cantonese Opera Excerpts" is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Tickets priced at $120, $200, $280 and $360 are now available at URBTIX. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for full-time students and CSSA recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis.)

     A post-performance talk (conducted in Cantonese) will be held at 7.30pm on December 3 (Thursday) at AC1, Level 4, Administration Building, Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Speakers will include Yuen Siu-fai and Barbara Tang. Admission is free with limited seats available on a first-come, first-served basis.
