Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yuen Long in small hours of today (October 24) in which a 53-year-old man died.
At about 2.10 am, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) driven by the 53-year-old man was travelling along Yuen Long Highway towards Tuen Mun. When approaching near Shap Pat Heung Bridge, it reportedly collided with another SPV driven by a 49-year-old man.
The 53-year-old man, who sustained head and chest injuries, was trapped inside the compartment and was rescued by firemen. He was rushed to Pok Oi Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 3.09am. The 49-year-old male driver, who felt unwell after the accident, was also sent to Pok Oi Hospital for treatment.
The case will be taken over by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North.
