Police appeal for information on fatal traffic accident in Sham Shui Po

     Police today (October 19) appealed to the public for information on a fatal traffic accident in Sham Shui Po on October 5 in which a 53-year-old man died.

     At about 8.20pm on that day, a light goods vehicle driven by a 50-year-old man was travelling along westbound Lai Chi Kok Road. When reaching the junction with Nam Cheong Street, it reportedly knocked down the 53-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the 53-year-old man was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state. He was certified dead at 4.03pm on October 8.

     The driver was arrested for causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to Police in mid-November.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West are underway.
