The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, will leave for Vienna, Austria tonight (October 18).
Professor Cheung will give a plenary presentation at the "Walk21 Vienna 2015-XVI International Conference on Walking and Liveable Communities" to share Hong Kong's experience in fostering mobility in a compact city.
During his stay in Vienna, he will tour Aspern Seestadt, a multifunctional and sustainable development at Vienna's urban lakeside with eco-friendly features as well as an optimised transport network and mobility links. He will also call on the Director General for Innovation and Telecommunication of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology, Mr Andreas Reichhardt, to learn about the use of applied innovation technology in the transport arena there.
In addition, Professor Cheung will sign an air services agreement with the Austrian Federal Government.
Professor Cheung will return to Hong Kong on Thursday afternoon (October 22). During his absence, the Under Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Yau Shing-mu, will be the Acting Secretary for Transport and Housing.
