Mountaineering Safety Promotion Day 2015 (with photos)

     The Civil Aid Service (CAS) held Mountaineering Safety Promotion Day 2015 with several government departments and mountaineering organisations today (October 18) at Sheung Tak Plaza and Tong Ming Street Park, Tseung Kwan O, to enhance the public's knowledge of mountaineering safety in order to avoid mountaineering accidents.

     An opening ceremony was attended by officiating guests including the Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation, Dr Leung Siu-fai, and representatives of the CAS, the Auxiliary Medical Service, the Office of the Communications Authority, the Fire Services Department, the Government Flying Service, the Hong Kong Observatory, the Hong Kong Police Force and various mountaineering organisations.

     Mountaineering equipment, such as digital maps, global positioning system devices, night vision goggles and weather maps, were displayed. Mountain rescue and casualty handling skills were also demonstrated to introduce mountaineering safety to the public.

     In addition, other spectacular performances were arranged for the public by the Police Dog Unit, CAS Band and CAS Cadet Corps side drum team.
