SCED continues visit to Belgium (with photos)
*********************************************

The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, today (October 13, Brussels time) continued his visit to Belgium.

In the morning, Mr So attended a ceremony to dress Manneken-Pis in a Hong Kong costume which shows the cosmopolitan style of the city. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr So said he was delighted that the iconic Manneken-Pis is wearing the Hong Kong costume to celebrate the longstanding friendship between Belgium and Hong Kong. The mix-and-match outfit, which comprises a modern version of a traditional Chinese suit and a pair of jeans, demonstrates the characteristics of Hong Kong as a cosmopolitan city where Chinese traditions blend with the latest international trends, Mr So added.

After the ceremony, Mr So will meet with the Chinese Ambassador to Belgium, Mr Qu Xing. He will also have meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development Cooperation, Digital Agenda, Telecom and Postal Services of Belgium, Mr Alexander De Croo, and the Director-General of Trade of the European Commission, Mr Jean Luc Demarty, to exchange views on matters of mutual concern.

In the evening, Mr So will attend the Hong Kong Gala Dinner organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels, at which Hong Kong-style Cantonese cuisine prepared by Hong Kong's Chinese Culinary Institute will be paired with Belgian beers, symbolising the friendship between Hong Kong and Belgium and promoting Hong Kong as a gourmet paradise in Asia.

Mr So will return to Hong Kong on October 15.
