The Secretary for Home Affairs (SHA), Mr Lau Kong-wah, today (October 13) presented commendation certificates and award pins to 23 persons for their outstanding contributions to the promotion of sports and recreation, arts and culture, and community greening.
Speaking at the SHA's Commendation Scheme Presentation Ceremony at Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Mr Lau complimented the awardees for their continuous efforts and remarkable achievements over the years.
"The awardees not only attain personal achievements, but also contribute in their respective fields for the benefit of society and take the lead in inspiring more people to serve the community," Mr Lau said. He urged them to join together in bringing a more harmonious society and vibrancy to people's daily lives.
The SHA's Commendation Scheme, introduced in 2002, aims to give recognition to individuals who make outstanding contributions to community building, community services, and development of sport, culture and arts.
