Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sau Mau Ping this afternoon (October 11) in which an 81-year-old woman died.
About 5.30pm, a light goods vehicle driven by a 51-year-old man was travelling along eastbound Ming Chi Street. When turning right into Hong Ning Road, it reportedly knocked down the 81-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
The woman sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to United Christian Hospital in unconscious state. She was certified dead at 5.49pm.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East are underway.
