SFH on dengue fever and elderly health care voucher
***************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending a public event today (October 11):

Reporter: As winter is approaching, will there be decreasing cases of dengue fever? Secondly, will there be an expansion of the elderly health care voucher scheme?

Secretary for Food and Health: Winter is now approaching, there are many factors affecting the activity of the mosquitoes causing dengue fever including temperature and rainfall. The Government has decided to continue the effort in mosquito control throughout the winter.

On elderly health care voucher, since the rolling out of the scheme, we have in phase increased the amount from $250 a year to $2000 a year. The upper limit of accumulation for unused vouchers has also been correspondingly set at $4000. We have seen an increase in both the use of the voucher as well as the participation of health care providers. We will continue to monitor the application and from time to time consider any improvement in the scheme.
