     Hong Kong Customs seized about 12 kilograms of suspected ketamine yesterday (October 8) at Man Kam To Control Point. The market value of the drugs was estimated at about $1.7 million.

     Customs Officers yesterday intercepted an inbound cross-boundary lorry for examination at Man Kam To Control Point and found 12kg of suspected ketamine concealed inside two vacuum cleaners and two pumps on the vehicle. The driver was arrested. Upon follow-up investigation, Customs Officers arrested another man suspected to be involved in the case in Tsuen Wan. The case is still under investigation.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
