SHA's Commendation Scheme presentation ceremony (with photo)

     The Secretary for Home Affairs (SHA), Mr Lau Kong-wah, today (September 25) presented commendation certificates and award pins to 150 persons for their remarkable contributions to community building, building management, charitable work, caring for the underprivileged and youth development.

     Addressing the award presentation ceremony, Mr Lau thanked and complimented the awardees for their selfless dedication and upholding the belief of "Hong Kong people helping Hong Kong", promoting the development of the community as well as benefiting the neighbourhood and the next generation.

     He said, "With tenacity and resilience, over 7 million people of different backgrounds, cultures and races in Hong Kong can live together in harmony and strive for their ideal lives. More importantly, they show care and support for one another."

     Mr Lau also encouraged more people to serve and contribute to the community to demonstrate a caring spirit.

     The SHA's Commendation Scheme, introduced in 2002, aims to give recognition to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to community building, community service and the development of sport, culture and art.
