The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in August showed a drop of 550 cases, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent compared to that of July, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (September 23).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of August stood at 248 247 (see attached table), with a total of 375 535 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.6 per cent to 6 833 cases; unemployment and single parent cases dropped by 0.5 per cent and 0.4 per cent to 17 404 cases and 29 251 cases respectively. Ill health, old age and permanent disability cases all showed decreases of 0.1 per cent to 24 741 cases, 147 087 cases and 18 122 cases respectively.
