Hongkong Post unveils exciting new stamps for 2016

     Hongkong Post today (September 23) announced details of the Special Stamps Issuing Programme 2016 and the 2016 Local Standing Order Service (LSOS).

     Hongkong Post's Special Stamps Issuing Programme for 2016 boasts a colourful diversity of stamp themes and designs that encapsulate many stories and memories, as well as local and international commemorative events.

     Philately is full of fun. With diverse themes and attractive designs, the 2016 special stamps will have something fascinating for everyone. Hongkong Post's 2016 stamp issues will commence with the Lunar New Year stamps "Year of the Monkey" and the World Heritage of China series stamps "The Grand Canal", which should appeal to both collectors and the general public. These will be followed by the classic toys issue, "Toys of Hong Kong - 1940s-1960s", which aims to evoke one's best childhood memories. The stamp issue entitled "150th Anniversary of the Birth of Dr Sun Yat-sen" will take people through time to understand the life and achievements of Dr Sun Yat-sen. The "Hong Kong Museums Collection - Pencil Drawings by Mr Kong Kai-ming" stamp issue will meanwhile depict old Hong Kong.

     The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association and St John Ambulance Brigade will celebrate their centenaries in 2016. Special stamps will be issued to commemorate their big days. Hong Kong is endowed with some outstanding public architecture and six award-winning examples of public architecture will be depicted on the "Public Architecture in Hong Kong" stamp issue. "A Tribute to Teachers" aims to foster respect and cultivate trust and affection between teachers and students. The first issue of the Hong Kong Hiking Trails series will feature 12 stamps themed on the Lantau Trail. Stamps commemorating large-scale international events will include "57th International Mathematical Olympiad 2016" and "Games of the XXXI Olympiad Rio 2016".

     Advance orders for the Programme can be placed through Hongkong Post's LSOS from today onwards. Those who do so from September 23 to October 31 are eligible to join an incentive scheme and receive fabulous gifts. Those who order online through Hongkong Post's online stamp advance ordering platform, Stamp OnNet (www.stamponnet.hongkongpost.hk), will enjoy extra bonus points.
