Contractors fined for violation of safety legislation

Kier Infrastructure and Overseas Limited, Kaden Construction Limited and Obras Subterraneas, S.A. were fined $13,500, $15,000 and $13,500 respectively at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (September 21) for violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on September 17, 2013, in Yuen Long. A worker was struck to his death by an excavator during mechanical scaling of the wall surface of a tunnel.
