The Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Commerce, Industry and Tourism), Mr Philip Yung, led a Hong Kong delegation to Nanning, Guangxi to participate in the
"12th China-ASEAN Expo" today (September 18). The delegation attended the official Opening Ceremony, and the Hong Kong trade and commerce exchange session organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Since 2004, the China-ASEAN Expo has been held successfully for 11 years in a row and Hong Kong has all along been an active participant. The 12th Expo this year, with the theme "Building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road", is being held from September 18 to 21. As "China's City of Charm" in the Expo this year, a large-scale Hong Kong Pavilion is set up to showcase Hong Kong as an international maritime center, global financial and trade center, and Asia's lifestyle and trendsetting hub; and to promote Hong Kong's strengths in commerce and trade, finance, creative industries, tourism and culture. Hong Kong's quality services and products are also introduced to visitors from Guangxi and ASEAN countries.

Mr Yung said, "Under the national 'One Belt, One Road' strategy, Hong Kong can play an active role as a 'super-connector' between the Mainland and the rest of the world, and as a hub for professionals in finance, logistics and transportation, legal services, etc. With the strengthening of trade and economic ties with ASEAN countries, Hong Kong can also play an important role as an intermediary for investors from all over the world to enter the Mainland and other Asian markets."
