Under Secretary appointed

     The Chief Executive's Office announced today (September 18) that the Appointment Committee has appointed an Under Secretary of the fourth term of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

     The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs has recommended Mr Ronald Chan Ngok-pang to be his Under Secretary. The recommendation has been approved by the Appointment Committee. Mr Chan will assume office on September 21.

     The 11 Under Secretaries of the current-term Government have all been appointed.

     Following are the biographical notes on the new appointee:

Mr Ronald Chan Ngok-pang

     Aged 33, Mr Chan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Policy and a Master of Arts Degree in Political and Comparative Sociology from Stanford University.

     He served as an elected member of the Southern District Council in 2008-10. From 2010 to June 2012, he was Special Assistant to the Chief Executive's Office. He was appointed as Political Assistant to the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs in September 2012.
