     Hong Kong Customs seized about 1.52 kilograms of suspected heroin at Shenzhen Bay Control Point yesterday (September 14) and arrested a 39-year-old man. The market value of the drug was about $1,000,000.

     Customs officers intercepted an outgoing passenger at Shenzhen Bay Control Point yesterday afternoon. A total of 82 pellets of suspected heroin were contained in black plastic bags and placed beneath the underwear of the arrested man.

     The arrested man, claimed to be a businessman, was charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug. He will appear at the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (September 16).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
