Ruttonjee and Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals gave the following update today (September 11) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of inpatients as carriers of Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA) in a medical ward of Ruttonjee Hospital:
The hospital has stepped up the screening procedures and one more 82-year-old male patient has been confirmed as an MDRA carrier but without clinical symptoms. The patient had been discharged.
The hospital will continue the enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation of the ward. The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
