Twenty building plans approved in July

     The Buildings Department approved 20 building plans in July, with five on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and 11 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, seven were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, six were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments and five were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 12 building projects that, when completed, will provide 97 992 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1 317 units, and 73 520 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 15 building projects.

     The department also issued 18 occupation permits, with six on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 57 363 sq m, involving 744 units, and 18 867 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in July totalled about $2.8 billion.

     In addition, eight demolition consents involving eight building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 523 reports about unauthorised building works in July, and issued 962 removal orders on unauthorised works.
