Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

Shun Ming Construction & Decoration Co was fined $40,000 at Shatin Magistrates' Courts today (September 7) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Electricity) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on August 22 last year in Sai Kung. A worker was electrocuted while operating an electric concrete breaker for carrying out concrete breaking work.
