	         In response to the remarks made by the Hon James Tien yesterday (August 28) claiming that the Government had intervened in the appointment of Vice-president of the University of Hong Kong and meddled in the operation of the University, a Government spokesman stressed that the accusation is totally unfounded and deeply regretted Mr Tien's remarks.
