Eleven music groups from a drug treatment and rehabilitation centre, counselling centres for psychotropic substance abusers and youth outreaching social work teams performed in an anti-drug band show entitled "Music and Band Peer Platform 2015" today (August 29) to spread anti-drug messages through their singing performances and demonstrate their determination to stay away from drugs.

The event, jointly organised by the Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau, the Action Committee Against Narcotics (ACAN) and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre (DIC), and held in collaboration with various non-governmental organisations, aims to disseminate anti-drug messages to young people through music, and to encourage young people to develop healthy interests and stay away from drugs. The activity also provides a platform for young people to showcase their music talents.

The event was held at the DIC this afternoon and gained support from various organisations. The performing groups were Dream Class from Hong Kong Christian Service's PS33; Aurora, D Aim, Memo and Co3y from Hong Kong Children & Youth Services' Ma On Shan Youth Outreaching Social Work Team; Cycle Steps from Hong Kong Children & Youth Services' Tai Po District Youth Outreaching Social Work Team; a band from Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service's Cheer Lutheran Centre; a band from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong Kong's Enlighten Centre; New Life Band from the Christian New Life Association; Mark Six from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong Kong's North District Youth Outreaching Social Work Team; and Metaphor from the Sai Kung/Wong Tai Sin Outreaching Social Work Team of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups' Youth Crime Prevention Centre.

Officiating guests at today's event were the Chairman of the ACAN Sub-committee on Preventive Education and Publicity, Dr Tik Chi-yuen; the Principal Assistant Secretary for Security (Narcotics), Miss Rosalind Cheung; and a member of the ACAN Sub-committee on Preventive Education and Publicity, Mr Sunny Tan.
