The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, after concluding his visit to Chile and Mexico, flew to San Francisco in the United States today (August 28, San Francisco time) to view the operation of food trucks in the city.
Mr So first met with officials of the San Francisco Department of Public Works and the San Francisco Department of Public Health as well as representatives of the San Francisco Small Business Assistance Center to seek a better understanding of their experience in the regulation of food trucks, the benefits of food trucks as opportunities for entrepreneurship and the attractiveness for tourists, as well as the support and assistance provided by the Small Business Assistance Center to food truck operators.
Mr So then paid a site visit to some food trucks in San Francisco during which he had exchanges with the operators to learn more about their day-to-day operations.
Earlier in the morning, Mr So visited an electric vehicle manufacturer and listened to the manufacturer's introduction on the company and its electric vehicles.
In the afternoon, Mr So paid a courtesy call on the Chinese Consul General in San Francisco, Mr Luo Linquan. He then attended a dinner with the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Association of Northern California in the evening.
Mr So will return to Hong Kong tomorrow morning (August 30, Hong Kong time).
