The Police will implement special traffic arrangements on Sunday (August 30) to facilitate two public events.
I. Public procession on Hong Kong Island
The following roads will be intermittently closed from 11.45am until the crowd is dispersed:
- Eastbound Queensway between Des Voeux Road Central and outside MTR Admiralty Station Exit C1; and
- Fast lane of Garden Road flyover, if necessary.
Vehicles may not be permitted to leave car parks along the procession route during the road closure period.
II. Parade activity in Kowloon
Phase I (implemented from 9.45am onwards)
Eastbound Haiphong Road between Hankow Road and Canton Road, and first and second lanes of southbound Canton Road will be closed.
Phase II (implemented from 10am onwards)
First and second lanes of eastbound Salisbury Road between Canton Road and Nathan Road will be closed.
When the parade arrives at the Salisbury Road, the following road closure and traffic diversions will be implemented:
- Westbound Salisbury Road Underpass will be closed;
- Traffic along southbound Kowloon Park Drive must turn left to eastbound Peking Road;
- Traffic along westbound Middle Road must turn right to northbound Kowloon Park Drive;
- Traffic along Salisbury Road cannot turn to northbound Kowloon Park Drive;
- Traffic along eastbound Salisbury Road cannot turn left to northbound Hankow Road;
- Traffic along westbound Salisbury Road must turn right to northbound Chatham Road South, except for franchised buses and Green Minibuses (GMBs); and
- Traffic along southbound Chatham Road South must turn left to eastbound Salisbury Road, except for franchised buses and GMBs.
When the parade arrives at the junction of Salisbury Road and Kowloon Park Drive, traffic along Salisbury Road cannot turn to northbound Nathan Road.
When the parade arrives at the junction of Nathan Road and Middle Road, the following traffic diversions will be implemented:
- Traffic along Northbound Hankow Road cannot turn right to eastbound Haiphong Road;
- Traffic along Eastbound Peking Road must turn right to southbound Ashley Road; and
- Traffic along Eastbound Ichang Street cannot turn left to northbound Hankow Road.
Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the areas. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of Police at scene.
